One Day in the Struggle Street

one day in the Struggle Street
you tremble with fear
as hunger strikes
with a vengeance
wounding your pride
as you battle the elements
at the foot
of the rainbow

you walk
like the lost soul
trapped
in the labyrinth of destiny
like an orphan deprived
of the milk
of human kindness in the greatest hour of need
fighting for life

yet, in a massive reversal of fortunes,
you redeem yourself in the nick of time
rebooting the dream as the
wandering moon comes to the rescue

you awaken
the flame of passion with absolute tenderness
on the mound of Venus
feeling the life force within

we feed the neurons
you and i
glowing with the first flush
of love molecules

we help each other
along the way; keeping the faith
finding the missing piece
as the darkness falls

you capture the
spirit of the moment
like a young lion in the throes of victory
like this refugee from way back
doing the daily battle for survival
under the weeping suns

you find
pleasure
and purpose
in the magic blossom of reason
the fecund thought that
opens the way that
leads to the living
treasure of desire in the hall of plenty.
