Songs of Survival

when the future is bleak
and you see
a thousand shades of grey
on a cold winter’s day
sing Aussie

when the tide turns
and your boat
comes home under the white shadow
be cool. And do the right thing
sing Aussie and fill your heart with love

when your hopes
and dreams are gone forever
as the cloud bleeds
and you have nowhere else to go. Don’t despair
sing Aussie with me and seize the day

when the cricket does not sing
and your wounds are still raw
seek union with the beloved. You are the master
of your own destiny in the lucky country
sing Aussie and open the gates of dreaming

when you sit
like an orphan deprived
like a rabbit in the shelter of despair
pondering the imponderable (all is not lost)
sing Aussie and i will hold your hand

when things fall apart
in the darkest hour
and the centre does not hold
be like me
sing Aussie and put a rainbow in your heart

when dealing with
the ups and downs of life in Yawnsville
embrace the inner beauty of the soul
(keep your dreams alive even in the school of hard knocks)
sing Aussie and i will wipe away your tears

This would be good to keep on hand for the inevitable trials in life. Remaining strong during strife shows our growth. The past few years have been good teachers for me personally.
